- I was 35 and living in Leeds (the poor man’s Manchester).
- I’d just gone self-employed and I was struggling.
- All because I believed the myth that you can get all the leads and clients you need for your business by simply networking and posting on LinkedIn.
- As if these activities are the Holy Grail of marketing.
- … But that’s not always true.
- And if you want a highly-profitable business it’s almost never the answer...
- I know, because I tried.
- I gave it everything I had.
- I gave it my BEST shot.
- I networked my arse off.
- Paid events… free events… breakfast events… drinks events…
- You name it, I went.
- Any event I could find on Eventbrite I was there.
- And none of it worked.
- I barely got a sniff of a lead.
- The same with posting on LinkedIn.
- ZERO engagement.
- The only posts which got attention were ones about my nephews and my celebrations when I initially went self-employed.
- After that, it was crickets.
- And hardly any DMs or comments from people asking if I could help.

- Just enough to keep me from drowning… but never enough to keep my head out of the water.

I Started Seriously Considering Going Back to the 9-5 With a Boss That Knew Less Than I Did… So I Could Start Earning a Decent Wage Again.
